Governance


King Henry VIII College is supported by a strong and active Board of Governors which bears an overall responsibility for the School’s corporate governance – “to lead, govern and monitor” the business of the College.

The Governors support the Chief Operations Officer, Chief Academic Officer, Head of School and School’s Executive Leadership Team to oversee decisions of strategic significance for the future. The composition of the Governors covers a range of professional expertise.

Dato' Dr. Mah Hang Soon

Chair of Governors

Dato' Dr. Mah Hang Soon (Dato’ DPMP) is a distinguished professional who brings extensive experience in high-level governance, health, and education policy to his role as Chair of Governors. His significant public service includes appointments as the Deputy Minister of Education (2020 – 2022) and a Senator, providing him with deep insight into the national regulatory and strategic educational framework. He currently serves as the Principal Representative for Education in China (Education Malaysia Global Services), demonstrating his commitment to international educational standards and partnerships. Furthermore, Dr. Mah has executive experience in regional administration as a Perak State Executive Councillor and remains a key figure in political leadership as the Deputy President of the MCA and Chairman of the MCA Education Consultative Committee. Academically, he is a medical doctor, holding a Master of Medicine (M. Med), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and an MBBS from the University of Malaya. His comprehensive leadership in government and education, combined with his medical background, ensures the Governing Body maintains rigorous strategic oversight of the School’s mission, academic standards, and community wellbeing.

YBhg. Prof. Tan Sri Dato' Seri Dr Noor Azlan Ghazali

Professor Tan Sri Dato' Seri Dr Noor Azlan Ghazali is a highly respected economist, academic leader, and policy advisor, contributing over 35 years of experience in higher education and national policy formulation. He currently serves as the Director of the Malaysian Inclusive Development and Advancement Institute (MINDA-UKM) and is a Professor of Economics, having previously served as the tenth Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) from 2014 to 2018. Prof. Tan Sri has held numerous national-level advisory roles, including serving as Executive Director of the Economic Action Council (EAC) from 2020 to 2022 and as a member of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of Bank Negara Malaysia from 2015 to 2019. He holds a Master in Public Administration (MPA) from Harvard University and a PhD in Economics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA. His distinguished expertise in economics, strategic insight, and academic leadership provides the Governing Body with invaluable strategic oversight and guidance on the School’s long-term vision and performance.

Mr. Lim Lian Chee is a finance specialist who contributes extensive strategic and operational expertise derived from a 39-year career in the banking sector with OCBC Bank, where he held various senior leadership positions. He retired in September 2022 from the position of Managing Director for Commercial Banking and was subsequently appointed as an Executive Director at Lotus KFM Berhad. His senior roles involved direct responsibility for strategy, execution, and performance, ensuring adherence to rigorous financial and regulatory standards. Mr. Lim’s academic background includes an Advanced Diploma in Business Administration from Thames-University of Oxford and a Master in Business Administration from the University of Southern Queensland. His decades of experience in risk management, corporate finance, and performance oversight provide robust financial guidance and strategic oversight for the Governing Body's governance of the School.
