Specialist Subjects
Art
Art develops creativity and imagination. It provides students with the opportunity to express themselves through different mediums. Students will be taught by our specialist Art teachers and have the opportunity to work with a variety of materials.
Music
Music is taught to students by our specialist Music department. Students will learn rhymes and songs from different cultures and be given the opportunity to play and listen to a variety of instruments. In KS2, Music lessons will be split between our instrumental programme and participating in the wider music curriculum.
Languages
At KH8 Primary we have timetabled lessons in Bahasa Melayu, Mandarin and Spanish. The focus of our Languages curriculum is to develop skills in reading and writing while also providing cultural and practical experience with speaking and listening. Students are placed in ability groups within a ‘native’ or ‘non-native’ understanding of the language for Mandarin lessons.
Physical Education
At KH8 students participate in Physical Education to develop skills and learn to enjoy physical activity. Students will learn about working as individuals and members of a team as well as being encouraged to develop positive attitudes towards a healthy and active lifestyle. Students also have the opportunity to enjoy swimming lessons in our state-of-the-art indoor swimming facilities.
